Does Kelham Polish Pottery have a catalog I can order from?Since Ceramika Artystyczna Polish pottery is individually hand made and we are often limited to single quantities of most of our items, a catalog would quickly become out of date. Our stoneware sells out very quickly and for this reason we do not have a catalog. Over time, most pieces return to the site but they may be in different patterns.
How do I know I'm purchasing the best quality Polish pottery?
Easy, if you purchase from Kelham Polish Pottery. Each piece will have a white quality assurance sticker on the back right from the factory. Be on the lookout for copies of the more popular Signature patterns. Recently other Polish manufacturers have made subtle changes to these patterns in order to sell them to unsuspecting collectors. Additionally, some of these copies are being manufactured in China. While imitations are available, the high level of artistry is lost and these pieces will not compliment your collection. Always consider the following:
- The white GAT 1 sticker and factory backstamp are on each piece.
- The pieces feel smooth to the touch.
- Signature pieces are all signed by the artist who designed the motif.
- The pottery should feel substantial and be completely opaque.
Kelham Polish Pottery only offers first quality, GAT 1 Polish stoneware from Ceramika Artystyczna.
How durable is Polish pottery?
Extremely durable and easy to use, too. Ceramika Artstyczna pottery is functional art.
- Beautiful hand painted forms that go from freezer, refrigerator, microwave, oven and dishwasher with ease.
- High firing temperatures ensure durability and strength.
- Always let your pottery "adjust" to extremes in temperature.
- Lead free and cadmium free paints and glazes are safe and resistant to chips and scratches.
How nice to bake and serve all in one beautiful piece!
Why do you only have one of most items?
These pieces are labor intensive and not mass produced in the way most tableware is today.
- The stamps used are hand cut from sea sponge.
- The brush strokes are all artisian applied.
- The ranges and values of colors used are all complimentary.
- The pieces are intended to be "mix and match".
For these reasons, we do not have a catalogue. It would quickly become out of date. Please let us know, however, if there is a particular piece or style you're looking for that is sold out. We strive to replenish our inventory without long delays and will do our best to help locate the stoneware you're looking for.
What is the difference between Unikat and Traditional Polish pottery?
Traditional Polish pottery is based on long standing folk art patterns and colorations. They are classic. Unikat pottery bears patterns and colorations specific to a factory and artist, it is referred to as Signature Polish pottery since it is signed by the artist who designed the decorative motif.
